Traditional & contemporary library

The experience of the library is changing. Traditionally, physical media such as books, albums, film, and photography were locally curated to create a body of knowledge for the general public. Today, media is much more transcendent- we carry a global body of knowledge on our smart phones, tablets, laptops and watches.

A singular, massive, rectangular prism rises on the interior as Varna Library’s new high capacity storage. Contrastingly, a series of spherical voids, carves the interior spaces to physically represent the remote storage of digital information. The subsequent “in-between spaces” forms are the contemporary experience of library.
